Marconi Coherer receiver is the first electromagnetic waves detector, produced by Guglielmo Marconi in order to allow reception of Wireless Telegraphy. Finalized in 1895, a fully functional copy - made by Maurizio Bigazzi, historical and scientific advisor of the Guglielmo Marconi Foundation - is now kept at Villa Griffone, in Pontecchio Marconi (Bologna).
Marconi Coherer receiver for Wireless Telegraphy is constituted by:
- a Coherer tube installed on a bunk device with a decohering vibrating engine on it;
- a spark resistance to suppress local noises;
- a column polarized relay;
- a telegraph sounder;
- an electric bell;
- a lever switch;
- an antenna and a picket to base on the ground.
The receiver is powered by dry battery which is in the same machine box.
