The Nobel Prize is a prestigious international award administered by the Nobel Foundation, which is in Stockholm (Sweden). Since 1901, each year Nobel Prizes are awarded in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature and Peace. In 1968, Sveriges Riksbank established The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.
Since then, this prize is added to the “traditional” list as the Nobel Prize in Economics. The Nobel Prize is widely recognized as the most prestigious and important recognition that a scientist, researcher, artist can be awarded in the course of his career.

Mario CAPECCHI (naturalized U.S.)
For the discovery of the 'principles to introduce specific gene modifications in mice through the use of embryonic stem cells
